English River Outfitters is bringing back their Haunted Trail event for the second year this weekend. On Friday and Saturday, families and individuals will have the opportunity to take part in Halloween activities, while also learning about the English River Outfitters mission. According to owner Chuck Geertz, the Washington Chamber of Commerce approached him last year about doing an event, and they had around 100 attendees take part. This year, he’s hoping even more people show up and enjoy the festivities. Among the activities are a hayride, bonfire with hot dogs and s’mores, candy for kids, and the haunted trail itself.

Geertz says they tailor the event to be fun for all ages, so there will be two trails people can take. The first is for toddlers to 6-year-olds, where they’re given wrist bands they can hold in the air to signify they don’t wish to be scared. Geertz assures parents it’s tame and subdued, but still fun for the kids. The second part of the trail is more aggressive and scary, and is aimed toward older kids and adults. The Haunted Trail event starts at dusk and runs until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and the cost is $5 per person. Proceeds benefit English River Outfitters and their outdoor programs for veterans, disabled veterans, and their families.
