Levi Geyer runs at the IMS Early Bird Meet

The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls cross country teams participated at Thursday’s event by Pekin at Lake Darling State Park.

On the boys side, Levi Geyer took home the individual championship, beating the field with his time of 17:11. Other IMS finishers included Cameron Roser-Peet 11th, Seth Danga 14th, Anthony Villatoro 16th, Juan Andino 17th, Jacob Boller 18th, Micah Miller 25th, Jesse Slater 30th and Jared Schlabaugh 31st. Iowa Mennonite finished second as a team with 59 points, Van Buren won the meet with 30 points.

On the girls side Iowa Mennonite was led by Calli Shaw who finished as meet runner up with her time of 21:41. Other finishers for IMS included Mackenzie Gutierrez 16th, Rachel Geyer 19th, Sarena Gerber 20th, Greta Schrag 23rd and Ainsley Shaw 32nd. As a team IMS finished in third place with 80 points. Pekin won the meet with 22 points.

The IMS cross country teams will next be in action Thursday at the class 1A state qualifying meet at Noelridge Park in Cedar Rapids.
