The official figures for Highland’s certified enrollment have been released, and they’re slightly higher than predicted. According to Business Manager Sue Rich, the official certified enrollment for the district is 629.3 students. Preliminary figures predicted 626.4 students, so school officials were pleased the number was even higher than the initial favorable number. Last year’s certified enrollment figure was 616.9, so the district has grown by 12.4 students. The decimal represents students who are not full time, such as preschool, home school, and dual enrolled students. Rich believes the growth shown is a positive sign the district is growing, though enrollment is still down from the 652 students they had in the 2014-15 school year. Certified enrollment dictates the amount of funding districts receive from the government, so with more students this year, Highland will receive more money for the next school year.
