The Highland Huskies football team (3-3 overall) got back on the winning track Friday. The Huskies traveled to Keosauqua for a district battle versus the winless Van Buren Warriors (0-6 overall). Highland posted 61 points in the first half, running away with a 67-14 victory.

Quarterback Jake Wood completed six of eight passing attempts for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Wood completed two passes to Trent Lasek for 52 yards, while Chase Rath caught another pair of passes for 38 yards and a touchdown. Running back Trey Lasek carried the ball eight times for 122 yard and two scores.

The win ends a three-game losing streak for Highland, elevating their overall record to 3-3. The Huskies will host the Columbus Wildcats (1-5 overall) Friday in Highland’s annual homecoming game. Columbus dropped a 52-7 contest last Friday versus the Sigourney-Keota Cobras (5-1 overall).
