The defensive group of the Highland Huskies football team (5-3) kept another district opponent off the scoreboard. The Huskies traveled to Letts Friday for a battle against the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons (2-5). Highland posted their second straight shutout in a 28-0 victory.

Highland scored three of their four touchdowns in the first half, all by sophomore Trey Lasek. He scored rushing touchdowns of two and 12 yards and caught a 15-yard pass from quarterback Jake Wood for a score. Trent Lasek scored the lone second half touchdown on a two-yard reception from Wood in the third quarter.

The Falcons achieved 224 yards of total offense but were two for 11 on third down conversions. The Huskies’ defense forced four turnovers, three interceptions, and one fumble recovery.

The win improves Highland’s winning streak to three games, and their overall record to 5-3. The Huskies host the Wapello Indians (5-3) in the season finale this Friday. Wapello lost at home Friday to the Sigourney-Keota Cobras (7-1), 40-12.
