Currently Keota schools have locking capabilities for all their entrances to school buildings, but according to Superintendent Dennis Phelps, they’d like to increase the amount of security at the doors. The school is presently looking into installing a camera, buzzer, and card swipe system at the main doors to the elementary and secondary buildings. Additionally, they’d like to install card readers at several other doors. He believes these systems would allow staff to better track and control who is coming into the buildings and when, eliminating the idea that anyone could walk in at any time. They are reviewing quotes from three different security providers for the installation of the system. Phelps believes it could be operational as soon as late spring or early summer of next year.
