Area high school students have saved over $1 million in tuition in 2014 and 2015 by taking concurrent credit courses at the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center. High school students who take concurrent credit courses get both high school and college credit without having to pay the cost of tuition. Tera Pickens, director of the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center, says the concurrent courses are a wonderful opportunity for students to try different fields and find their passion. She adds there is great financial savings in regards to tuition, in 2014 they saved just over $549,000 and last year they saved the equivalent of $645,872 in tuition.

Partner school districts include Washington, Highland, Mid-Prairie, Keota, Lone Tree, WACO and the local home school association. There are also students enrolled from the WRAP Center, the alternative high school which is housed in the Kirkwood building.
