Leaves in Washington are now being vacuumed up for the season. City crews started running the leaf vacuum Monday and it will operate through November 23rd. JJ Bell, maintenance and construction superintendent for Washington, reminds residents to place piles of leaves in the terrace area, between the sidewalk and the street. Do not put leaves in the street, as it can cause drainage issues and traffic hazards. The leaf vacuum is starting in the northwest quadrant of town and moving in a counter-clockwise direction around Washington.

Residents may also haul their leaves to the waste water treatment plant between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or Saturday mornings October 22nd through November 19th from 7-10 a.m.
