Another big offensive performance led to another convincing victory for the No. 4 Lone Tree Lions football team (6-0 overall).The Lions traveled to Wayland last night for a 8-man district matchup versus the WACO Warriors (3-4 overall). Lone Tree scored at least 13 points in every quarter, running away with a 69-13 victory.

All nine touchdowns scored by Lone Tree came on the ground, earning 417 yards rushing. Drake Hotz ran for 184 yards and three touchdowns. Jovonte Squiers accounted for 129 rushing yards and four scores. Trey Pierson amassed 124 yards including 94 rushing. The Lions’ defense forced the Warriors into throwing two interceptions.

WACO’s Colton Horak, this week’s KCII Hedge Above Lawncare Athlete of the Week, led the Warriors with 169 rushing yards and one score.

The win elevates the Lone Tree Lions to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in district play. The Lions host the Easton Valley River Hawks (2-6 overall) in next week’s district action.

The loss drops WACO to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in the district. The Warriors will have a bye week next Friday before traveling to Preston October 14 for a matchup with Easton Valley.
