The transition to 8-man football has been seamless for the No. 4 Lone Tree Lions (7-0 overall). Seven games into their initial season and the Lions lead the state with 437 points scored, an average of 62.4 points per game.

A majority of Lone Tree’s points have come on rushing touchdowns. The Lions have tallied 47 rushing touchdowns by nine athletes. The Lions also scored nine special teams touchdowns and threw eight more. Lone Tree has converted 35 extra point attempts and nine two-point conversions. The Lions lead the state by 21 points over Twin Cedars.

The Lions’ defense has allowed 69 points, an average of 9.8 points per game. The most they allowed in one game was when they gave up 22 points in their season opening victory versus Central City.

Lone Tree continues their season tomorrow night in Marengo, squaring off against the Iowa Valley Tigers (5-2 overall).
