Even before the official certified enrollment numbers were released, Mid-Prairie schools were confident they had grown substantially since last year. That hypothesis proved true, as they climbed from 1,210.5 last year to 1,258 this year, an increase of 47.5 students in certified enrollment. The decimal is in reference to students who aren’t full time, such as preschool, home school, and dual enrolled students. According to Superintendent Mark Schneider, this is one of the highest enrollment figures they’ve had, and it was good to see it recover from last year. The district was down last year from previous years, where they had been steadily increasing or staying the same.

They additionally saw an increase in number of students open enrolling into the district, with 29 more students than last year. While those students count towards the certified enrollment of other districts, Schneider is still pleased to have more than 70 additional students in the classroom than last year. Certified enrollment numbers dictate the amount of government funding a school district receives for the following school year. With more students, Mid-Prairie will see an increase in funding as a result.
