The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls cross country teams participated at Saturday’s 2016 State Cross Country meet at the Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.

The Mid-Prairie boys won the first team state cross country championship in school history with their overall score of 98 points, Unity Christian was second with 115 points. Top finisher for the Mid-Prairie boys was Peyton Miller in 11th with a time of 17:02. Other Golden Hawk finishers included Zach Pettit 12th, Floyd Evans 14th, Marshal Teets 26th, Quinn Schmidt 35th, Brent Foster 44th and Andrew Schwartz 85th.

The Mid-Prairie girls finished in third place in the team standings with 133 points, Monticello won the team championship with 93 points. Anna Hostetler made history for the Hawks, bringing home the first individual championship in school history, winning the race with her time of 17:57. Marie Hostetler finished as state runner up with her time of 18:15.

Other Mid-Prairie finishers included Greta Schmidt 38th, Abby Tornow 40th, Kessa Jones 52nd, Kyleigh Graham 54th and Abbigail Evans 66th.

The Mid-Prairie boys finish the year with an overall record of 112-6. Their team championship is the fourth in any sport in school history, joining 2002 girls basketball, 2004 baseball, and 2006 boys track. The Mid-Prairie girls end their season with an overall record of 88-12.
