Several schools from the KCII listening area will make the trip to Cedar Rapids today for their class 1A state cross country qualifier meet at Noelridge Park.

Those area schools include Iowa Mennonite School, Columbus, Highland, Keota, Lone Tree, WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union. On the boys side of the event Alburnett, Belle Plaine, No. 9 Bellevue, No. 2 Calamus Wheatland, Clayton Ridge, Durant, Easton Valley, English Valleys, Holy Trinity, Maquoketa, No. 18 Marquette Catholic, Midland, North Linn, No. 3 Pekin, Prince of Peace, Rivermont, Wapello and Wilton will all be in attendance. There are six total ranked runners in the boys field including Gavin Bencze of WMU who stands at No. 25 in this week’s poll.

On the girls side of the event attending are Alburnett, Belle Plaine, Bellevue, Calamus Wheatland, Clayton Ridge, Durant, Easton Valley, English Valleys, Holy Trinity, Maquoketa, No. 3 Marquette Catholic, Midland, No. 4 North Linn, No. 5 Pekin, Prince of Peace, Rivermont, Wapello and Wilton. The girls field has a total of seven ranked runners.

The top three teams, plus the first 15 individual place winners qualify for the state meet in Fort Dodge. Action begins this afternoon at 3PM in Cedar Rapids.
