Two regional teams are vying for an automatic berth in the Class 1A football playoffs tonight. The No. 9 Sigourney-Keota Cobras (7-1 overall; 5-1 Class 1A District 4) welcome the Wilton Beavers (7-1 overall; 5-1 Class 1A District 4) to Keokuk County tonight for a district showdown. Both teams enter the game tied for second place in the district with a 5-1 record and each squad has a point differential average of 11.33. The loser of the game can make the playoffs as one of two wildcard teams, depending on the margin of victory.

The Cobras are the third best rushing team in the state regardless of class, accounting for 2,960 yards and 42 touchdowns. Senior Avery Moore continues to be the only athlete in the district with more than 1,000 yards rushing, racking up 1,258 yards and 20 touchdowns on 95 carries. Quarterback Luke Greiner tallied 709 rushing yards in eight games, the fourth most in the district, and has scored 12 touchdowns.

The Wilton Beavers are the top passing team in the district, recording 1,308 yards and 13 touchdowns. Quarterback Jerome Mays ranks second in the district with 1,218 yards and 12 touchdowns. Wide receiver Evan Reifert has caught a team-best 21 passes for 452 yards and seven touchdowns. Trey Brisker has made 57 total tackles, second most in the district.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Sigourney High School.
