Southeast Iowa farmers had an advantage over the rest of the state according to the most recent Crop Progress and Condition Report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Statewide there were just 3.6 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending September 25th, but southeast Iowa farmers had 6.4 days suitable. Work during the week included harvesting corn and soybeans. In southeast Iowa, 85% of corn is mature and 67% of soybeans are dropping leaves.
