The Washington County Board of Supervisors unanimously selected a company to operate the Washington County Recycling Center. The supervisors approved WEMIGA Waste Systems of Mt. Pleasant. Supervisor Stan Stoops spoke in favor of the company, saying it was the only bidder with references. Supervisor Jack Seward explained there were some discrepancies on the proposals from the four bidders in regards to whether the county or the contractor would be responsible for the tipping fees. Seward said, he wasn’t convinced the other bidders had responsible or reasonable figures. Last year it cost the county $322,000 for the waste services.
