Thunderstorms swept across the KCII-listening area Thursday evening into Friday morning. According to AccuWeather, Washington received nine-tenths of an inch of rain Thursday with another four-tenths from midnight to 6 a.m. Friday. The total rainfall for the first week of September is normally just under seven-tenths of an inch of rain. Wind speeds reached 60 miles per hour near Muscatine. A trained weather spotter reported two inches of rain in Ft. Madison and over four inches in Keokuk in the overnight.

So far this month temperatures in Washington have been about six degrees above normal with the average observed at 62.8 degrees. Mostly sunny skies with highs in the low-70’s are in the forecast for Washington this weekend. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
