The Mid-Prairie boys and girls cross country teams swept state qualifying meet championships on Thursday in Pella.

The Golden Hawk girls qualified for the state meet in Fort Dodge as a team, winning the team championship with their score of 61, edging second place Collins-Maxwell-Baxter by one. I’ts the Golden Hawks second straight state qualifier title. Applington-Parkersburg was the third team qualifier with 108 points. Mid-Prairie was led by the one-two punch of Anna and Marie Hostetler with Anna capturing the individual title with a time of 17:57 and Marie finishing second in 17:58. Other finishers included Greta Schmidt 16th, Kessa Jones 19th, Abby Tornow 23rd, Abbagail Evans 25th and Kyleigh Graham 27th.

The Mid-Prairie boys rolled to the team title with their score of 57 points. East Marshall was second with 81 points and Applington-Parkersburg was the third qualifier with a team score of 94. This is the second straight boys team title for Mid-Prairie. The Golden Hawks were led by Peyton Miller who finished fourth with a time of 16:53. Other finishers for Mid-Prairie included Zach Pettit fifth, Floyd Evans 11th, Quinn Schmidt 18th, Marshal Teets 19th, Andrew Schwartz 22nd and Brent Foster 24th.

The Mid-Prairie girls now stand at 76-10 on the year, the Mid-Prairie boys are 99-6. Both teams will next be in action October 29th at the state cross country meet in Fort Dodge.
