The boil order has been lifted for the commercial area in downtown Columbus Junction. This area includes addresses on Main Street north of the Highway 92 viaduct, as well as locations on Walnut Street east of Second Street, Colonels Drive, and Eastern Access. The boil order for the rest of Columbus Junction, as well as Columbus City, is still in effect until further notice. Early Tuesday, the Columbus Junction water supply had a problem in the distribution system and lost pressure. City officials issued a boil order, which means it’s advisable to boil any water to be used for consumption, as there is a chance it may have contaminants. There is no current timetable for when the boil order will be lifted for the rest of the homes affected, because they will need four clean tests due to the large number of connections impacted. Columbus Junction officials will notify KCII when the water is safe.
