Jon Michael Holeton

A Washington man was arrested Tuesday in Brighton following a weapons violation. According to the Washington County Communications Office, Tuesday afternoon 33-year-old Jon Michael Holeton was arrested for assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.

It began Monday at 9:35 p.m. when an assault was reported and the suspect was armed with a firearm, law enforcement officers from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Washington Police Department responded to the 300 block of East Main Street. A search warrant was executed and the firearm was recovered. The suspect could not be located Monday, but Tuesday law enforcement received information that the suspect was at a residence in Brighton.

Possession of a firearm by a felon is a class D felony and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon is an aggravated misdemeanor. Holeton is being held at the Washington County Jail with a $7,000 cash bond. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources assisted in the investigation.
