Leaf blowers, rakes and the leaf vacuum are out for the season in Washington. Leaves are falling and the City of Washington’s leaf vacuum is making the rounds to pick them up. Crews started using the machine last week and will operate it until November 23rd. JJ Bell, maintenance and construction superintendent, reminds residents to put leaf piles in the terrace areas, the space between the sidewalk and the street. Do not put leaves in the street, as they can cause drainage problems and traffic hazards.

Residents also have the option to take leaves to the waste water treatment plant between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or Saturday mornings October 22nd through November 19th from 7-10 a.m., it can now only be accessed from Highway 1.
