The WACO Warrior football team gave No. 16 ranked Iowa Valley all they wanted Friday night but in the end Tigers topped the Warriors 52-38.

WACO started the scoring when Gabe Black found the end zone from 12 yards out to make it 7-0. Garet Sims got the Tigers on the board with a 51 yard touchdown run, following the two point conversion, Iowa Valley led 8-7. WACO would regain the lead on a Colton Horak 25 yard touchdown run at 13-8 after one quarter. Iowa Valley continued the see saw with a nine yard Jacob Krakow touchdown run to go back on top 14-13, that’s where the score stood at the half.

The Tigers scored again out of the break, a nine yard Garet Sims touchdown run to make it 22-13. WACO countered with a 27 yard scoring strike from Wyatt Harbison to Matthew Leichty to pull the Warriors within 22-19 at the end of the third. In the final frame the Tigers took control with back to back Sims touchdown runs of five and 51 yards to pull ahead 36-19. Horak pulled in a 40 yard touchdown from Leichty to get WACO back to 36-25. Sims and Horak each scored again to make the score 44-31 Iowa Valley late. Horak found the end zone again to get the Warriors within 44-38 but a late Tiger touchdown on a 41 yard pass put the game out of reach.

Harbison was 15 of 24 for 199 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. Horak had 24 carries for 116 yards and a touchdown on the ground, while pulling in six passes for 133 yards and three scores through the air. With the loss WACO ends their season at 3-6.
