The Washington City Council has questions for the YMCA in regards to the management of the outdoor pool. At the council’s special session meeting Tuesday they discussed the agreement and proposal from the YMCA but had questions and there was no one in attendance representing the YMCA. Councilman Brendan DeLong said, “I have a lot of unanswered questions on this and to have them not be here is kind of disappointing.” Councilman Jaron Rosien said, “I’d like to believe there is a reasonable solution that we can come to that is fair and equitable for both.”

The YMCA has proposed that the management fee for the Steele Family Aquatic Center increase to $30,000 next year, from $8,500 last season. The Park Board recommended the City assume the costs of the utilities and pool chemicals, which equates to about $25,000, but then not pay a management fee. The council is asking the YMCA to come to their next meeting, as there is a contractual deadline of November 30th.
