The postseason fate of the Washington Demon cross country teams will be decided next week. State qualifying meet sites were released last week, and the Demons will run next Thursday at Solon’s Recreation and Nature Area. Other teams competing include: Central DeWitt, Clear Creek Amana, Davenport Assumption, Fairfield, Keokuk, Maquoketa, Marion, Mount Vernon-Lisbon, Notre Dame-West Burlington, Solon, South Tama, and Williamsburg.

The top three teams and the first 15 individual place winners will qualify for the Class 3A state cross country meet, which will be held October 29 in Fort Dodge. Washington failed to qualify last year.

The Demons conclude their regular season race schedule tomorrow, competing in the Southeast Conference race hosted by Fairfield. The top 10 finishers will earn all-conference honors. The varsity girls’ race is set for 5 p.m. and the boys will run at 5:30 p.m. at Waterworks Park.
