Normally by this time, Marr Park has shut down their water system to begin the process of winterizing, but unseasonably warm weather has allowed them to put it off. According to Park Ranger Jayce Horning, they did have a brief frost recently which caused a hose to freeze at the park, but they decided to not turn the park’s water off until the next longer frost. They don’t have a set date they begin winterizing, it usually depends on the weather. He said they don’t want to shut it off too early, so they try to keep it on as long as possible. The park could begin winterizing as early as this weekend, but it could also be held off until early November, it all depends on the severity of the next frost. Winterizing involves draining water pipes to prevent them from freezing and potentially breaking.
