For a second straight season, the Highland Huskies girls basketball team won’t have a player measure over 5’10”. The Huskies were able to overcome their short stature last year, winning 18 of 24 games. Highland averaged 57.2 points per game, the third most in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North. Aly Stokes and Katie Gerot are the team’s tallest returning players measuring at 5’9″.

Highland’s Kelsey Hora, Brylee Carolan, and Stokes were guests on last week’s Winter Sports Preview show and stated head coach Jodi Fink keeps the team well conditioned. Speed was a strength of last year’s team and the trio believes it will be an asset again. Fink says about 40 percent of his team’s offense production last season came in transitions.

The Highland Huskies girls’ basketball team opens their season Friday, November 18, at Keota. Listen to an interview with Hora, Carolan, and Stokes On Demand at KCIIRadio.com.
