Building a foundation of fundamentals and team chemistry was the focus of Washington’s first-year head volleyball coach Lexa Mahr this fall. Mahr was a guest on this week’s PM Sports Page and spoke about her initial season as the Demons’ head volleyball coach.

Mahr praises the girls for working hard on the fundamentals of the game. She said they worked on everything from the girls’ footwork to their placement on the court. Mahr also praised the leadership of the squad’s three seniors: Liv Postl, Alexis Turner, and Jessie Buchholz. Washington earned Mahr’s first coaching victory on September 24 against Mid-Prairie at the Hawks Tournament (21-19, 21-11). The Demons ended the season winning three of their 27 matches.

Washington is set to return nine players next fall, including honorable mention selections Megan Mitchell and Morgan Brinning.
