The Mid-Prairie football team was recently recognized by the Iowa Newspaper Association with their vote for All-State football teams.

Senior Levi Duwa was a first team All-State selection on the defensive line. Duwa, who had his season cut short due to injury, finished the year with three and a half sacks, 10 total tackles for loss and 29 and a half total tackles. He is the sixth player in Mid-Prairie history to be named to the all-state squad in multiple seasons.

Junior Terryhn Jacoby was a second team All-State selection as a kicker. Jacoby was three for three in field goal attempts in 2016 with a long of 40 yards. 29 of his 53 kickoffs resulted in touchbacks. He also punted 25 times for a 34 yard average.

Senior Ricky Vargas was a third team All-State selection at running back. Vargas led class 2A district five with 1,304 yards on the season, his 17 touchdowns were second most in the district.
