The City of Washington has the opportunity to apply for a $600,000 grant for water plant improvements, but to do that they first need income information from residents. City Administrator Brent Hinson explained an income survey of residents is needed to determine the percentage of low and moderate income residents in Washington who would be potentially served by improvements at the water plant. The grant is a Community Development Block Grant. The city council approved having Laura Allen conduct the survey with a fee not to exceed $5,700. Allen has conducted similar surveys in other cities in the past. The dates have not yet been set. Councilman Jaron Rosien said it’d be a nice return on investment to receive $600,000. KCII News will broadcast the dates of the survey work once they are set.
