The Iowa Mennonite School boys basketball team is getting set for the upcoming winter sports season.

A year ago, IMS finished their season  with a 12-11 overall record and a 9-7 standing in the Southeast Iowa Superconference North. Iowa Mennonite was led by Co-Conference player of the year Eli Gingerich. Graduating along with Gingerich were contributors Jakob Schmidt and Jacob Schmieder.

Iowa Mennonite does return Nick Yutzy, a three year varsity contributor to the program who averaged 11 points per game last season to with 98 assists. Other returning contributors from last year’s team include Reggie Borntrager, Cole Yoder, Cole Ours, Mitchell Schmieder, Finny Lackender, Caleb Gingerich and Blake Bontrager. Iowa Mennonite will be without the services of their leading rebounder from a year ago in Drake Brezina who suffered an injury during football season that will keep him out of basketball.

Iowa Mennonite will travel to Mid-Prairie for a Hall of Pride Game on Friday, November 25th and will travel to Lone Tree for their season opener on Tuesday, November 29th.
