The 2016 River Valley Conference honor band recently had an event at Bellevue High School, and 27 students from Mid-Prairie middle school and high school participated. The 14 middle school students and 13 high school students were selected to be among the students from the 12 schools in the conference at the event. The honor bands had five hours to rehearse with the guest conductors before performing at the concert. Dr. Glenn Pohland of Loras College conducted the middle school band, and Dr. Brad Williamson of Benton Community High School conducted the high school band.

Representing Mid-Prairie Middle School, under the direction of Ross Schumaker, were the following 14 students: Carley Miller, flute; Terra Richardson, oboe; Emily Marner, Emily Swartzentruber, Rebekah Meader, and Elizabeth Sansen, clarinet; Natali Miller, bass clarinet; Ivana Ebersole, alto saxophone; Aidan Yoder, tenor saxophone; Benjamin Meader and Gavin Frascht, trumpet; Kyra Helmuth and Mason Brady, trombone; and Elizabeth Meader, tuba.

Representing Mid-Prairie High School, under the direction of David Kunz, were the following 13 students: Alexys Clark and Gracie Lucas, clarinet; Lauryn Weiss, bass clarinet; Sierra Mathews and Stephannie Schrock, alto saxophone; Jaiden Sedlacek, tenor saxophone; Tristan Novy, baritone saxophone; Eli Van Roekel, trumpet; David Fleming, French horn, Jessica Goll and Ty Waters, trombone; Isaiah Sents, euphonium; and Ryan Sansen, percussion.
