The Riverside Fire Department was the victim of a prank over Halloween, and now their newest truck may have to be repainted. Fire Chief Chad Smothers said firefighters traditionally go hand out candy during Halloween, and vandals took the opportunity to throw eggs at their ladder fire truck. When the firefighters returned, they discovered the egg and worked quickly to clean it off in an attempt to save the paint job. After the truck was cleaned, they noticed the egg had scuffed the clear coat and may have been into the paint. They contacted the Washington Sheriff’s Office, and it’s Smothers’ understanding they have identified individuals who may have been involved in the vandalism. To repair the damage, Smothers said he’s been in discussion with a body shop in Riverside that believes they can buff the damage out and reseal it. He hopes that works, otherwise they will have to repaint the truck.
