Small Business Saturday will be observed across the country this weekend and Washington is taking part. Main Street Washington Director Sarah Grunewaldt there are many options for gifts in downtown Washington. She adds it’s important to shop locally because it helps support the community. She says, for every dollar spent locally 72 cents stays in the community, while every dollar spent out of town or online, only about 30 cents comes back to the local community.

In addition to Small Business Saturday, downtown Washington will have Santa visiting with his open house at 110 West Main Street, on the north side of the square this year, and the downtown lighting ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. followed by the annual holiday lighted parade.
