A pair of seniors on the Lone Tree Lions football team continue to be recognized for their efforts on the gridiron this fall. Jovonte Squiers and Dawson Swails were recently named to the Iowa Newspaper Association’s 8-man all-state football team.

Squiers was named to the all-state first team as a defensive back. He forced eight turnovers and scored two defensive touchdowns. His six interceptions tied Midland’s Connor Harms for the most in the district.

Swails represents Lone Tree on the all-state second team as an offensive lineman. He was part of an offensive line which produced 3,504 yards of total offense and 69 touchdowns.

Lone Tree ended their first 8-man season with an overall record of 8-1. The Lions missed the playoffs on a point differential tiebreaker with Midland and Iowa Valley. Lone Tree will graduate eight seniors.
