The Washington Community School District received a $50,000 grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation and that money will go toward playground renovations at Stewart Elementary School. Superintendent Jeff Dicks said they’ll have age appropriate pieces since the early childhood addition will also have preschool aged children. Dicks adds they hope to get moved in to the Stewart Elementary School addition by Thanksgiving; they have held a walk-through of the classrooms with students and their parents. Then crews will demolish Stewart West. The playground will be done in the spring.
