Mid-Prairie senior Ricky Vargas punctuated his Golden Hawk football career by placing his name among the best in the record books.

Vargas ended with 214 career points, sixth most all-time. His 126 points during the 2016 season alone were fifth most in a single year. Vargas found the end zone 35 times during his career, fifth most in school history. His 21 touchdowns in 2016 were fourth most in a single season. Vargas ends his career with 2,592 rushing yards, fourth most in school history. His 1,306 yards in 2016 were the seventh most in school history in a single season.

Vargas also had several individual game highlights. His five touchdown night against Northeast Goose Lake in 2016 was the second most touchdowns in a single game in school history. His 82 yard touchdown run against top five Mount Vernon in 2016 was the seventh longest in program history.

Mid-Prairie finished 2016 with a 5-4 overall record.
