Foster Woods County Park is an 18 acre park located near Wellman, and the Washington County Conservation Board is working on improving the park to draw more people to it. At their most recent meeting, the board agreed to seek a grant from the Fish Habitat Stamp Fund to help restore and enhance the fishery. However, Conservation Director Steve Anderson says the improvements won’t stop there. He says, “We continued dialogue relating to what we’re going to do for a shelter up there. We’re still talking about what we’re going to do with trails and bathrooms and all those things. Our goal is to make that a better park, and more user friendly, and more used than what it is right now.” Other than the fishery, he said no decisions have been made, but they will continue to have dialogue moving forward on how to best improve the park.
