The Washington Demon volleyball team (3-24) found late season success under first-year head coach Lexa Mahr. The Demons opened the season on a 16-match losing streak. The squad’s first victory came during the Hawks volleyball tournament on September 24, where the Demons downed the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks (12-20) in straight sets (21-19, 21-11). Washington’s first conference win came three days later, sweeping the Keokuk Chiefs (25-8, 25-21, 25-12) at home. Washington’s final match victory came during the Demon Volleyball Classic on October 8, defeating Tri County in pool play action (21-14, 21-19).

Washington’s three seniors were among the squad’s top offensive players. Liv Postl recorded a team-best 97 kills. Alexis Turners’ 57 kills ranked third, while Jessie Buchholz’s 54 kills was the fourth most. Sophomore Isabel Bailey was second on the team with 78 kills. Postl and Buchholz tied for the team lead with 15 aces apiece. Megan Mitchell was the Demons’ top facilitator, assisting on 243 points. Kylee Porter and Morgan Brinning each logged over 100 digs. Porter led the Demons with 144, while Brinning tallied 110.

Washington’s season ended on October 19, falling to North Scott (11-20) in the Class 4A Region 8 opener (15-25, 8-25, 19-25). The Demons’ season concludes with a record of 3-24 overall, a three-win regression from last season. Washington will lose Buchholz, Postl, and Turner to graduation.
