While the Washington County Fair is still seven months away, local 4-H and FFA members are busy preparing and recently weighed their cattle. At the beef weigh-in last weekend, 165 market beef were enrolled and weighed for the coming year. Amy Green, 4-H and youth coordinator for Washington County, says others will continue to enroll through surrounding county weigh-ins later this month and in January. Of those 165, 31 calves were nominated for the State Fair and 17 for the Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Livestock Show in Omaha, Nebraska. Green reminds 4-H families that they need to verify the market beef weights before January 31st through 4hOnline.
