Trees are decorated with ornaments, lights are shining bright and many presents are wrapped neatly with paper and decorated with bows – and that’s just what the Washington County Domestic Violence Coalition is working to provide for area families. The coalition is currently collecting new items for six families to help with Christmas. Brad Koenig, president of the coalition, says they’re collecting new items and gift cards to help these families across Washington County.

In total there are 18 children from age one to 17 years old. Koenig said, “Seventeen-year-olds still like opening things on Christmas morning. Really, who doesn’t?” He adds they’re also looking to brighten the mothers’ holiday by getting them each a gift.

Donations, monetary or items, can be takent to the Washington Public Library or Hometown Inn and Suites in Washington. For more information listen to the full Washington Page program on KCII and visit the coalition’s Facebook page. If you need help call 319-520-0554 for free and confidential services.
