Two teams in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North will enter the new year with unblemished records. One of those squads is the Highland Huskies (8-0), who’ve won their first eight games by an average of 25 points per game.

Defense has been key for the Huskies thus far, holding half of their opponents to under 30 points. Four Highland players have recorded 12 or more steals this winter. Kelsey Hora tops Highland and ranks third in the conference with 32. Murphy Beinhart has stolen 19 passes, Aly Stokes has picked 16 pockets, and Amy Schnoebelen has tallied 12 steals.

The No. 14 Mediapolis Bullettes (6-0) are tied with Highland atop the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North standings. The two teams were scheduled to meet for the first time on December 16 in Mediapolis. A winter storm postponed the game, which has been rescheduled for January 16. Highland resumes their season on January 3 at Wapello (3-4).
