The first Southeast Conference bowling meet of the season took the Washington Demon teams to Mount Pleasant on Saturday. The Panthers hosted a triangular at the Iris Bowling Center versus the Demons and the West Central Heat of Briggsville, Illinois.

A senior on the Washington boys’ bowling team (1-2) posted the best round of his career. Colin Zear recorded a two-game score of 460 as Washington ended the day with 2,591 points. Mount Pleasant won the meet with a score of 2,749, while West Central placed third with 2,256 pins. Three other Washington bowlers had individual rounds above 300 points. Tucker Renoux knocked down 354 pins, Kolton Segebart sunk 315 pins, while Kylan Gillette recorded a score of 303. Washington tallied 1,708 points in the individual round and added another 883 in the baker rounds.

Washington’s girls’ bowling team (0-2) had four members post scores above 200 points. The Demons posted a team score of 1,519 points, to take third place. Mount Pleasant won the event with 2,046 pins, while West Central recorded a score of 1,940. Bailey Brown topped Washington with a two-game score of 227. Taylor Northup sunk 222 pins, Taylor Janecek added 213, and Rylie Swart had 206. Washington tallied 1,059 pins in the first round, and 460 pins in the baker rounds.

Washington’s conference bowling season resumes Saturday as the Demons travel to Keokuk for a meet against the Chiefs. First pins are set to drop at 12:30 p.m. at Arrowhead Lanes.
