The Washington Demon Dance team will compete in multiple events at this week’s state dance competition. The Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association is holding their 2017 Team Championships today and tomorrow at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines and Washington has qualified for a pair of events.

Washington opens the state dance competition this afternoon in the Small School Co-Ed division. The duos include: Alexis Turner and Wil Marek, Isabella Giardino and Sawyer Whisler, Liv Postl and Gabe Greiner, Makenzi Marek and Mashal Goodwin, Megan Mitchell and Jacob Hall, Michaela Hoffman and Tanner Murphy, Megan Strabala and Andrew Waite, Gracie Greiner and Jack Carter, Madison Ross and Colton Anderson, Madelyn Janecek and Jarrett Bender, and Alexis Moore and Ryan Friese. The Demons will be on the floor for their routine at 1:13 p.m.

They will also compete in tomorrow morning’s Class X Pom competition. The dancers competing include: Turner, Giardino, Postl, Marek, Mitchell, Hoffman, Strabala, Greiner, Ross, Janecek, Moore, Savannah Hall, Vanessa Moeller, and Quinn Buckingham. Washington is set to take the floor at 8:18 a.m.

Washington competed in the Class 2 Lyrical event during the 2016 Team Championships. The Demons performance earned a Division II rating.
