Two games versus ranked teams await the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (1-2) this week. The Demons open the week hosting the Class 3A No. 5 Center Point- Urbana Stormin’ Pointers (3-0) and are set to open Southeast Conference play Friday against the Class 4A No. 15 Fairfield Trojans (3-1) in Fairfield.

Washington held their home opener over the weekend, welcoming the Solon Spartans to town for a non-conference tilt. The Spartans left Washington with a 62-43 victory. Sarah Nacos led the team with nine points. Taylor Dicks posted eight points, while Isabel Bailey added seven. .

The Stormin’ Pointers bested the Demons last year, 65-36, in Center Point. Center Point-Urbana, a state tournament qualifier last season, is off to another fast start. The Stormin’ Pointers won their first three games by an average of 22.3 points per game, and have five players who’ve scored 22 or more points this season. Allison Wooldridge is the team leader with 44 points, 25 rebounds, and 11 assists. Center Point-Urbana crushed the Solon Spartans, 64-37, in Center Point on Friday.
