The Washington County Conservation Board recently completed upgrades to Willow Pond, and with the help of an Eagle Scout the improvements will continue. At their most recent meeting, the board was approached by Eagle Scout Sam Fields about doing some landscaping and tree planting in the Willow Pond area, and the board accepted the offer. Fields will begin the work in the spring. Conservation Director Steve Anderson is excited for the project, saying the users of the Kewash Nature Trail should see some exciting progress in the area over the course of the next year. He believes the improvements will make the area even more attractive for visitors.

The recent upgrades to the pond were the addition of large stones along the 500 foot shoreline. The stones help reduce shoreline erosion caused by the wind, while also creating habitats for aquatic life. Willow Pond is located just west of Washington along the Kewash Nature Trail.
