Former Lone tree basketball standout Bryan Forbes filled up the stat sheet during a recent trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Briar Cliff University Chargers men’s basketball team (11-4) was in the Sunshine State last weekend for two games at the Cruzin Classic. Forbes was the Chargers’ top scorer in a pair of victories.

Briar Cliff opened the competition versus the Florida National University Conquistadors (6-9). Forbes poured in a season-high 29 points to help the Chargers to a 105-93 win. He converted 17 of his 18 free throw attempts. The following day, Briar Cliff faced the Johnson & Wales University Wildcats (5-7). Forbes recorded his fourth double-double of the season, tallying 28 points and grabbing 12 rebounds as Briar Cliff won 69-53.

Forbes has played in all 15 games this winter. He leads the Chargers in rebounds (113), steals (23), and blocks (11). Forbes was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference’s (GPAC) Defensive Player of the Year as a junior last year after leading Briar Cliff in steals (69) and blocks (30).

The Briar Cliff men’s basketball team sits with a record of 11-4 overall. The Chargers resume their season on December 29, facing the Ottawa Braves in the Holiday Classic at Morningside College. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
