The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams grabbed wins at Wilton In River Valley Conference play Friday.

It took overtime but the Golden Hawk girls were winners by a 49-46 score. Mid-Prairie opened the game on a 14-2 run that lasted the entire first quarter, the lead stood at 25-16 at the half. In the second half, foul trouble, coupled with stiffer Wilton defense held Mid-Prairie to just 12 total points while the Beavers erased the deficit. Trailing late, Ireland Hostetler knocked down a free throw to send the game to overtime. With four starters fouled out of the game, Mid-Prairie was able to outscore Wilton 12-9 in extra time to seal the win. The Hawks were led by 15 points and 17 rebounds from Ireland Hostetler. Addie Rath had 10 points. With the win the Mid-Prairie girls are now 2-3 on the year.

In the nightcap the Mid-Prairie boys scored their first win of the season taking down Wilton 56-48. The Golden Hawks held a slim 10-6 lead after the first quarter and kept the margin at 27-23 going into the half. The Golden Hawks stretched out the lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Beavers 16-9 in the frame to lead 43-32 going to the fourth. The Beavers would pull within four in the final minute of the contest before the Golden Hawks hit free throws down the stretch to ice the win. Tom Butters recorded a double double with 15 points and 11 boards to lead the Hawks. Derek Rich added 11. With the win Mid-Prairie is now 1-3 on the year.

The Golden Hawk boys and girls will next be in action Friday when they host West Liberty in an RVC double header.
