Two undefeated boys basketball teams stepped onto the court Tuesday, looking to take control of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Standings. The No. 3 Lone Tree Lions (5-1) returned from an 11-day layoff to face their league rival, the Highland Huskies (7-0). Highland, the home team, held Lone Tree to their lowest offensive output of the year, winning 61-50.

Half of the Huskies’ points came from brothers. Trent Lasek had a team-high 20 points, while Zach Lasek provided 12 points. Bill Burton added nine. Highland closed the first half on a 10-0 run to lead 30-28 at halftime.

The win pushed Highland’s record to 7-0 overall, while Lone Tree falls to 5-1. Both teams will resume their conference schedule on January 3. Highland is set to travel to Wapello (5-3); Lone Tree is scheduled to host Columbus (0-7).
