Inflow and infiltration, or I and I, will be discussed at Tuesday’s Washington City Council meeting. The council will hear a draft report from FOX Engineering about the southeast basin. Inflow and infiltration is in regards to storm water going into the city’s sanitary sewer system, causing the sanitary sewer system to have too much water and not work properly, resulting in backed up water. According to a memo from City Administrator Brent Hinson, “Very few actual direct connections to the sanitary sewer were found, but the condition of our infrastructure in this basin needs significant work, primarily manhole rehabilitation and sewer lining and point repairs.”
Other items on the agenda include consideration of purchase of a dump truck, a budget amendment, well replacements, and strategic priorities. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday in council chambers.
