In a battle of KCII area teams, Iowa Mennonite School travels to Winfield-Mt. Union tonight for a Southeast Iowa Superconference boys and girls basketball doubleheader.
The Iowa Mennonite girls enter tonight’s game with an overall record of 0-5. In their last game they fell to Columbus at home on Friday 59-42 despite a career high 29 points from Suzanna Yoder. IMS is led in scoring this year by Yoder with her 19 points per game average. She also has the team lead with eight assists. Mia Graber leads IMS with 14 rebounds on the year.
The Winfield-Mt. Union girls enter tonight with an overall record of 2-4. In their last game they topped West Burlington 37-26 led by 16 points from Karlee Schlee and 10 from Lexee Hartsock. Hartsock leads the Wolves in scoring at 10 points per contest, she also has the team lead and is third in the conference with 48 rebounds. Kara Wade is tops on the Wolves with 10 assists.
Iowa Mennonite won the lone meeting between these schools last year 45-42.
On the boys side IMS comes into the contest with an overall record of 2-2 on the year. In their last game they beat Columbus 56-29 behind 18 points from Cole Ours, all coming in the second half, Mitchell Schmeider added 15. On the year IMS is led by Schmeider and Cole Yoder who are each averaging 10 points per game. Nick Yutzy leads IMS and is sixth in the conference with 16 assists. Yoder has 23 rebounds, best on the team and eighth in the conference.
Winfield-Mt. Union is 1-4 entering tonight’s action. They lost to West Burlington 85-41 in their last game. Cody McCreight led the way with 12 points. Bryce Robison leads the Wolves in scoring at 14 points per game, eighth best in the conference. His 13 assists are also best on the team and 10th in the conference. Robison leads the Wolves and the SEISC in rebounding with 43.
These two teams met once last year with IMS winning 70-59 in Kalona.
